   Those titles are remarkable on a large screen in the cinema and the music’s operatic approach gives it an edgy feeling that this was going to be a ride with some diabolical characters that you hope you never meet otherwise it would be a trip to the desert.

   I agree. Casino’s a fine film but it’s no Goodfellas. However, these titles…Scorsese sure knows how to suck you into his movies.

   casino is a more mature and more sophisticated film than goodfellas. it’s also more epic and more brutal. the characters in it are all high-profile too. but as for joe pesci’s acting, it’s just as good in both films.

   How is it more mature and sophisticated? They both share the exact same approach: The subjective depiction of an amoral lifestyle. How is Casino any smarter about it? And Pesci is one of my biggest problems with Casino in that he’s doing the same thing all over again. His whole presence is forced in my opinion. Yes, it’s more epic, but part of the charm of Goodfellas is the fact that it’s NOT epic. Don’t get me wrong, Casino is good, I just don’t like it nearly as much.
