   It was more than that.. he had his hands broken during the period when he was doing forced labour, following an unsuccessful attempt to escape from Hungary.

   The studio version of this piece is my favourite Cziffra recording. This one is nice too.

   wich version? He recorded it twice, once in 1956 and also in his last liszt-recital on LP.

   To imagine what Liszt would have actually been for we take pride in playing and listening to his masterpieces…which are Playable….by a handful o pianists over the world.
